Psychodynamic Psychotherapy · Central London & Online
I am a British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist, trained at the Tavistock and Portman, offering thoughtful, relational therapy for adults in Central London and online.
If you’d like to enquire about therapy or arrange an initial conversation, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
I am Perla De Toledo Amon, a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist, accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists. I completed four years of clinical training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, including the Introduction to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and the Clinical Qualification Course in Intercultural Psychodynamic Therapy.
Having lived and trained in different countries, this cross-cultural journey deeply shapes my work. I bring a genuine curiosity about how culture, language, and identity influence our inner worlds and relationships. I offer therapy in both English and Turkish.
I have accumulated over five years of clinical experience working within NHS settings and the private sector, with adults from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and life circumstances. I am passionate about offering a thoughtful space where together feelings and experiences can be explored at a pace that feels right.
My Approach
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is grounded in the understanding that our past experiences, particularly our earliest relationships, profoundly shape how we feel, think, and relate in the present. Together, we explore patterns, feelings, and unconscious processes that may be contributing to your current difficulties, with the aim of understanding the roots of those difficulties and creating lasting, meaningful change.
I approach each person with genuine curiosity and openness, believing that real understanding begins when we allow ourselves to explore the unknown together.
Having lived and trained across cultures, I bring a deep awareness of how cultural background and identity shape our inner experience and the therapeutic relationship.
The therapeutic alliance is built on empathy — meeting you where you are with compassion and without judgement, so that together we can begin to make sense of what feels difficult or confusing.
All sessions take place in a strictly confidential, non-judgemental environment. I am committed to creating a safe space where you can speak freely and be heard — whether in person or online.
Areas of Work
Understanding the roots of anxious feelings and developing a more grounded relationship with uncertainty.
Exploring the deeper emotional currents that contribute to persistent sadness, withdrawal, or loss of motivation.
Examining repeating patterns in relationships and understanding how early experiences shape how we connect with others.
Working through fears of closeness, difficulties with trust, or struggles to maintain meaningful connections.
Carefully processing difficult or painful experiences from the past that continue to affect your present life.
Exploring questions of who you are, feelings of inadequacy, and building a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
Understanding the emotional demands that lead to depletion and finding ways to restore balance.
Navigating major changes such as career shifts, relocation, becoming a parent, and the complex feelings they stir.
When emotional distress manifests in the body as unexplained aches, tension, fatigue, or chronic pain, therapy can help uncover and process the underlying feelings that physical symptoms may be expressing.
Loss extends far beyond the death of a loved one. It can encompass the loss of cultural identity, a childhood cut short by responsibility, the hope of parenthood, or a former sense of health and vitality. Therapy offers a space to grieve, process, and gradually make meaning from loss in all its forms.
